            Contract Amount:  $ 3,258,548

Owner: Corps of Engineers

General Contractor:  DWG & Associates, Inc.

Description:

This project is to construct 2640 ft. Chiller Plant Building to house 2000 tons of cooling to accommodate the cooling needs for Building 1102. The chiller plant consists of four (4) 500 ton water cooled chillers and four (4) 30 hp cooling towers, four (4) 20 hp condenser water pumps, four (4) 10 hp primary chilled water pumps and four (4) 25 hp secondary chilled water pumps. The primary chilled water loop will be within the confines of the chiller plant building and will have 16” diameter chilled water supply and return headers. The secondary loop will consist of approximately 4400 lineal feet of 3” – 10” size chilled water pipes located in the crawl space of Building 1102 and will service the many mechanical rooms throughout the building. Building 1102 is currently being cooled by many air cooled chillers located in several locations around the building. This project will consolidate all the cooling needs into one system.

HQ Building 1102 has a storied past and was one of the main targets in the attack on Pearl Harbor. This former “Big Barracks” now serves as the Headquarters for the Pacific Air Forces and its bullet scarred walls are carefully preserved to serve as a constant reminder to never again be caught unprepared.
